My Experience

Every Jyotishi has real world experience that they bring to a client consultation because we are all affected in our outlook by kala, desha, and patra - or our particular time, place, country and culture of birth origin.

I grew up in Chicago's North Side in a neighborhood where all my friends' parents were first generation European immigrants, mostly Roman Catholic.  My own parents were born in Peru, so my first language was Spanish.  I've been living in San Francisco for over 25 years now.

Here are some qualities that I could bring to your Jyotish consultation:

First, I am a graduate of Hart deFouw's rigorous year-long Jyotisha Trilogy in 2006 (see my Teachers and Lineage) which is grounded in one of the oldest lineages of Jyotisha -- that of Maharshi (Great Rishi) Parashara.  My Jyotisha studies have been enrichened by seminars also taught by Hart in Jyotisha's sister sciences of Vaastu, Hasta Samudrika, and Ayurveda as well as the classical language of Sanskrit.  Prior to this, I'd been a student of Western archetypal astrology and have a Bachelor of Arts degree in comparative religions from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Second, I have first-hand knowledge of the pressures of modern living including how to find an appropriate life/work balance while at the same time pursuing one's creative passions.  For over 10 years I worked as a senior vice president and manager for one of the leading financial institutions in the country.

Finally, I am a painter and photographer who has a deep respect for the arts and for the power of intuition when skillfully applied within the context of a classical tradition.
